Young Chipolopolo Face Hosts Lesotho in Opener

The Zambia Under-17 National Team this afternoon looks to kick-off their Region 5 Games Maseru 2020 with a convincing victory when they face hosts Lesotho in their opening match at Setsoto stadium.
Today’s Group A fixture will be preceded by a Group B match involving Botswana and Malawi at the tournament that has been reduced to six participating nations following the emergence of the Omicron variant and Covid-19 travel complications.
But with the Young Chipolopolo travelling to Maseru in good time for the U17 showpiece, Coach George Chilufya is expected to name a strong side led by captain Joseph Sabobo Banda.
Eric Musonda Makungu may start in goal ahead of Terry Phiri for the 2020 runners-up while Aaron Mbemba Phiri, Sekanji Siame, Ricky Chanda and Lyson Banda are all geared to form the back line in with Mathews Banda and Emmanuel Kateka also strong contenders for a starting place.
Sabobo, Frank Chileshe, Edward Mwale, and Emmauel Katenga are likely to get the nod ahead of Parkie Nkhoma, Mumba Mwale and Samson Malaya while Marcel Zimba and Kelvin Phiri are expected to lead the front.
Kick-off is at 15:30hours and the match will be live on
Zambia’s next match will be against Eswatini on Saturday at 15:30hours.
