It’s Redemption Time – Banda
Zambia National Team midfielder Emmanuel Banda admits that the team needs to get its act together ahead of Saturday’s Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier match.
The Chipolopolo take on Mauritania in a Group B affair in front of home supporters at National Heroes stadium in a 15:00 hours kick-off, before wrapping their group campaign away against Tunisia on 16 November.
“I feel we are confident as a team to play these two games as competitive as we could to get the points that we need. In as much as it won’t take us anywhere, it’s a really good step for us rebuilding our team and being strong,” the Djurgardens midfielder said.
“We have to win these games and start showing our competitiveness in all the games that we play from now on so I feel this is a stepping stone going forward as a team.”
Zambia picked their first win away at the expense of Mauritania in Nouakchott, but Banda says the team has gotten over the match and is looking forward to finishing the World Cup campaign on good note.
“The first target is to win both games; we beat them away in Mauritania and they’ve come here trying to do the same but we won’t give them that opportunity to do that,” Banda said.
“We have to cement our territory, put our foot down because we have to know that this is our land and when we go to Tunisia, we just have to be calm and victorious so we will go there with our hearts and try to win all the games.”
