Chipolopolo Intensify Training for Saturday World Cup Clash….as Klings Replaces Injured Edward Chilufya
Chipolopolo coach Beston Chambeshi has called on his squad to approach this weekend’s 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifier match against Mauritania with the aim of finishing the race on a strong note.
Chambeshi believes getting Saturday’s home win over the Al-Murabitun of Mauritania will set the tone for Zambia’s final group B qualifier against leaders Tunisia on 16 November.
“This is a big week for us and the team is putting in a lot in training. Everyone is working (hard) and we are just waiting for our foreign players to come in, otherwise we are focused and we need these games because we want to finish on a good note,” Chambeshi said.
“Every game is important and these are World Cup qualifiers, as you know we are building the team and we are working on coordination so it’s an important game for us and the boys.”
The Chipolopolo will be missing the services of Sweden-based forward Edward Chilufya who has been ruled out of the back-to-back qualifiers, with Russia-based Klings Kangwa earning a late call-up in his place.
“We will miss Edward because he is a good player and a fast winger but thankfully, we have Klings Kangwa who has been playing well at his base (in Russia),” Chambeshi said.
“It is good for us and the technical staff because we have a replacement in Klings Kangwa.”
Tickets for Saturday’s match against Mauritania are available across various Shoprite outlets via Computicket at K30 (South and North Wings), K50 (East Wing), K70 (West Wing) and K250 (VIP).
