Chikotesha Gets CAF VAR Appointment
Top Zambian female FIFA referee Diana Chikotesha is among 19 assistant referees selected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the Women’s Champions League Preparation VAR Course that will run in Egypt from November 1-5 in Cairo.
CAF Zambian instructor Gladys Lengwe will also be involved in the course, that has also attracted 20 referees from various countries on the continent.
The course is a prelude to the Women’s Champions League that will run from November 5-19 and Chikotesha will be among the assistant referees that were selected to officiate at the inaugural tournament.
Chikotesha’s appointment comes a few days after renowned referee Janny Sikazwe was selected to officiate at the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup to be played in Qatar from November 30 to December 18.
Sikazwe will be one of only two centre referees selected from Africa to officiate at the FIFA Arab Cup which is a dress rehearsal of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Chikotesha’s participation in the VAR course will add to the wealthy of technological experience in the game that was pioneered by Sikazwe at the 2018 at the FIFA Club World Cup.
