Kundananji Predicts Heated Tie Against Scorchers
COPPER Queens forward Racheal Kundanji has predicted a tough encounter against Malawi on Wednesday in the First Round of the TotalEnergies Women’s AFCON 2022 Qualifiers set for Bingu National stadium.
Kundananji who is one of two foreign based players in the squad alongside Israel based Hazel Nali said the team was looking forward to the game and equal to the task.
“We are looking forward to the game. It won’t be easy, but we shall win. Our aim is to qualify and feature in all tournaments,” she said.
She said the scorchers were a good side that should not be underrated.
“Malawi is a good side. We need to work together as a team, communicate and coordinate,” she said.
The striker added that starting the first leg away would work to their advantage.
“Its good we start away. We just need to win and hold them at home for us to qualify to the next round,” she said.
She also urged the soccer fans to continue rallying behind the Copper Queens.
The winner of the tie will face winners between Tanzania and Namibia in the next round.
Zambia will be away to Malawi on Wednesday before hosting the Scorchers in the reverse fixture on October 26 at Nkoloma Stadium.
Some foreign based players like Barbara Banda, Prisca Chilufya and Rachael Nachula will miss the tie due to Covid-19 restrictions in their respective bases and club commitments.
