Katongo Bubbles With Confidence Ahead of Malawi Showdown
Zambia Under-20 Women National Team skipper Evarine Katongo says the squad is wary of the wounded Malawi in the return leg to be played on Saturday in Lilongwe.
The Copper Princesses carry a 6-0 advantage from the first leg but are not complacent going into the return leg.
“I know we won 6-0 at home but we are going away and know that Malawi will come as hard as they can because they know that we have a good side,” she said before departure at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport for Malawi.
“They will come hard, but we are going to work extra hard for us to win even this second game away.”
Katongo said everyone in the squad was working hard and competing for starting berths.
“The morale is very high and during training, everyone was putting in their very best so that we could win the away game. There was much competition during preparations. Everyone is very prepared to win the second game in Malawi.”
The winner of the two legs will play either Uganda or Ghana in the next round.
