Copper Queens Aim to Cement Top Spot
Zambia will be seeking to remain at the summit of Group C when they take on Namibia this afternoon at the 2021 COSAFA Women’s Championship in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Having started this year’s campaign with a 5-0 win over Eswatini at Madibaz stadium on Thursday, the 2019 losing finalists are in search of their second win that will move them closer to a semi-final qualification.
The match will kick-off at 15:30hours at the Madibaz stadium and will be live on Supersport Channel 202, Cosafa.tv and SABC. Uganda are up against Eswatini at 12:00hours in the other Group C match.
The Copper Queens technical bench knows too well that the match against Namibia will not be a walk-over especially that they are coming from a goalless draw against Uganda in their opening match.
The technical team has a full-squad for this afternoon’s assignment, with Catherine Musonda, Eunice Sakala and Ngambo Musole all available for selection in goal.
The Green Buffaloes duo of Lushomo Mweemba and Agness Musase is expected to be deployed at the back with Margaret Belemu as right-back and Mary Mulenga or Margaret Mulenga covering the left.
Midfielder Milika Limwanya is also a sure start having impressed against Eswatini. Avell Chitundu and Mary Wilombe are also likely to take their positions although they face competition from Elizabeth Mupeso and Esther Namukwasa who accounted for themselves well when they came on as substitutes.
Tournament joint leading scorer with three goals, Ochumba Oseke Lubanji will lead the attack with skipper Grace Chanda expected to be behind her. Happy Pinto and Thandiwe Nkhata are also available.
