In-form Belemu Targets Namibia Scalp in COSAFA Clash

Defender Margaret Belemu is convinced Zambia will beat Namibia and maintain top spot in Group C at the ongoing COSAFA Women’s Championship in Nelson Mandela Bay.

The Copper Queens lead the way at the summit of Group C after a 5-0 win over Eswatini on Thursday afternoon with Belemu scoring the second goal and contributing an assist in a one-sided affair at Madibaz stadium.

The right-back believes the players have picked more positives and are eager to face a Namibian side who played out to a goalless draw against guest nation Uganda.

“Namibia has got a very good side and they are organised so we expect a tough game but I know that we will carry the day as a team because we talked about the mistakes in the game against Eswatini and hopefully we shall deliver a good result,” Belemu said.

The match against Namibia will kick-off at 15:30hours on Sunday at the Madibaz stadium. In the earlier kick-off, Uganda face Eswatini with both sides looking for their first win of the tournament.
