Support Us-Chambeshi Urges Fans
Chipolopolo coach Beston Chambeshi has called for fans to support the team ahead of the October double header clashes against Equatorial Guinea in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Speaking to the FAZ media team from the Chipolopolo training camp, Chambeshi said his squad that regrouped in Lusaka on Sunday ahead of departure for Cameroon today (Wednesday) would work hard to capture maximum points in the two games.
Chambeshi is being assisted by Aljosa Asanovic who serves as Technical Advisor.
“All I can say to the soccer fans is let us believe in this team, it is the only team that we have. Don’t doubt us we are working hard with the boys, and they are putting in a lot to see to it that we qualify to the World Cup. So, lets us just believe in this team,” Chambeshi said.
He said having the league in full swing had given the players the requisite fitness ahead of a tough assignment on October 7 away and at home three days later.
“It is good now that the league is on, the level of fitness you can not worry. I know they have good coaches at their clubs who can coach them to that level, so I think we are happy with the restart of the league,” he said.
Chambeshi said despite getting three out of a possible six points from last month’s back-to-back action against Mauritania and Tunisa, he was confident that the October round of matches would be better.
“So yes, we can lose a game but what is important is to come out strong and to win our remaining games then the road will be good for us,” he said.
The Chipolopolo leave for Cameroon for a weeklong international camp prior to the October 7 encounter against Equatorial Guinea in Malabo.
Foreign based players will join camp directly in Camareoon where the team will be acclimatizing to the West African conditions.
Tunisia leads Group B on six points while Chipolopolo are second on three points alongside Equatorial Guinea who are third, but with goal difference there a factor.
