Chipolopolo Players Abroad: Chipolopolo Stars Weekend Wrap

A wrap-up of weekend performances by Chipolopolo players playing in various leagues across the African continent and beyond.

Sweden – Allsvenskan

Edward Chilufya contributed a wonder strike as Djurgardens IF moved three points clear at the top of the Allsvenskan after a 3-0 win away to 16th placed Ostersunds on Sunday. Other goals came from Jacob Larsson and Joel Asoro.

Chilufya benefited from a Karl Holmberg assist in the 32nd minute.

The Mphande Academy Youth Academy product played 46 minutes before being withdrawn for Niklas Barkroth. Emmanuel Banda came on in the 61st minute for Rasmus Schuller.

Scotland – Scottish Premiership

Rangers returned to winning ways in the Premiership with a 1-0 win over Dundee United. Colombian Alfredo Morelos paved way for Chipolopolo striker Fashion Sakala in the 67th minute.

England – Premier League

Striker Patson Daka was an unused substitute in Leicester City’s 2-2 home draw against Burnley at the weekend. Enock Mwepu’s Brighton and Hove Albion are in action against Crytal Palace this evening.

Russia – Premier League

Striker Evans Kangwa and midfielder Klings Kangwa will be hoping to play a role in the week nine fixture against Ural Yekaterinburg this afternoon.

Denmark – First Division

Midfielder Lubambo Musonda was introduced in the 74th minute as AC Horsens beat Nykobing FC 2-1 in a week 10 fixture. The win moved Horsens to 10th place in the league.

Democratic Republic of Congo – Ligue 1

Defender Tandi Mwape and midfielder Rainford Kalaba found the back of the net in the 4-0 humiliation of SM Sanga Balende in the Vodacom Ligue 1 fixture.

South Africa – DStv Premiership

Sekhukhune United goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata was voted Man of the Match in the 1-1 draw with Golden Arrows.

At Stellenbosch FC, midfielder Nathan Sakala played the full match in the 2-1 win over Chippa United. Stellenbosch are now third on the log after five matches played.

Striker Mwape Musonda featured for Moroka Swallows in the goalless draw against Cape Town City and Gamphani Lungu was on the substitutes bench in the 2-1 win over Maritzburg United

Morocco – Botola Pro Inwi

RS Berkane registered their third straight draw in the 2021/22 season as midfielder Clatous Chota Chama featured in the 1-1 draw with AS FAR Rabat at the Complexe sportif Moulay-Abdallah.

Tanzania – Premier League

The Premier League opens today with Azam FC taking on Coastal Union at 15:00hours. Simba Sports Club will be in action against Biashara United on 28 September.
