Buoyant Copper Queens Off to SA for COSAFA
Zambia Women National Team coach Bruce Mwape has unveiled his final 20-member squad that will travel to South Africa this morning for the 2021 COSAFA Women’s Championship.
Ten members from the historic Tokyo 2020 Olympics outing have made the cut, including Zesco Ndola Girls goalkeeper Ngambo Musole and defender Vast Phiri, Green Buffaloes defender Lushomo Mweemba, and the Red Arrows duo of Margaret Belemu and striker Grace Chanda.
Zambia are in Group Calongside Eswatini, Namibia and Uganda at the regional showpiece set to run from from September 28-October 9 in Nelson Mandela Bay.
The Copper Queens will face Eswatini in the opening Group C match on 30 September and their penultimate fixture will be against Namibia three days later while their final group campaign is against tournament guests Uganda on 5 October.
The team will leave Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka at 08:15hours.
