We Will Soar to the Next Round-Numba
Zambia’s CAF Champions League envoys Zesco United say they expect to do much better than 1-0 away loss to Royal Leopards of Eswatini when the two sides meet tomorrow in the second leg of the preliminary round of the continental championship.
During a pre-match press conference at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Zesco United coach Mumamba Numba said the Ndola side has plugged the holes from the first leg encounter in Manzini to overturn the 1-0 deficit.
Numba says the team is aware that fans expect the Zambian champions to pass the first hurdle in the continental bracket.
“We have done our homework; we have worked on our finishing because that was our area of concern because that is where we did not do a good job in terms of finishing. We only hope that we will do much better in tomorrow’s game,” he said.
“We are happy with what we have seen in training, if we can replicate what we have seen in the few days that we have been training when we came back from Eswatini I think tomorrow we will soar to the next round.”
The soft-spoken trainer said he was aware that fans expected the squad to qualify to the next round.
“We must be focussed so that we do not disappoint our fans. They expect a lot from us, they expect get further in this competition. So, all we need is just to be ourselves and make sure we give the supporters the result that will take us to the next round.”
Zesco United will host Royal Leopards of Eswatini on Saturday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in a 15:00 hours kick-off.
The game will be played behind closed doors following a directive from the Confederation of African Football.
Zesco United trails 1-0 from the first leg played in Manzini but the Zambian side is gunning to overturn that deficit.
