ROAD TO QATAR 2022: Chambeshi Elated by Away Win…Focusses on Tunisia
Chipolopolo coach Beston Chambeshi says he is elated at picking away points in Mauritania but will not get carried away.
Speaking to the FAZ media team after the Chipolopolo defeated Mauritania 2-1 with goals from skipper Enock Mwepu and Prince Mumba.
“It is a good win from home, and you know these are qualifiers so if you pick three points away from home it is good,” Chambeshi said.
“It is good for the boys and the technical staff. It was not an easy match; Mauritania came out and played but we were on top of things especially in the first half.”
He added: “We liked the approach; the boys had to take the game and contain. It was good for us to have a goal in the first half. I think that goal lifted the team up. I liked the attitude in the first half.”
Chambeshi said the Tunisia match will be tougher, but the Chipolopolo will be adequately prepared for the match.
“These are qualifiers, we cannot just defend, we have to make sure we attack and be cautious in defence because we are playing at home. Tunisia, yes, they are a big team, the Arabs play attacking football but all you must do is make sure the defence is intact and hope and trust the strikers will come to the party,” he said.
Chambeshi said although the team will miss the England based duo of Patson Daka (Leicester) and Enock Mwepu (Brighton & Hove Albion) their replacements would fill the void adequately,
The Chipolopolo host Tunisia on Tuesday at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola in Group B Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
