Chipolopolo Commence Cosafa Journey against Lesotho
The Chipolopolo boys begin their Cosafa title defence with a tie against the Leslie Notsi tutored Lesotho at the Isaac Wolfson Stadium today (Thursday).
Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has assembled a mix of youth and experienced players led by 2012 Africa Cup of Nations winning goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene.
Micho has set a winning start as a benchmark but will have to sweat for it against a seasoned tactician in Notsi who has been in and out of the Lesotho hot seat.
Lesotho will be looking to bounce back after a losing start at the hands of Eswatini on Match Day one.
The Chipolopolo backline will most likely be marshalled by Kabaso Chongo and Adrian Chama with Zachariah Chilongoshi and Roderick Kabwe in contention for the left back position while Benedict Chepeshi could have to fend off competition from Gamphani Lungu for the rightback slot. There could be space for Dominic Chanda and Isaac Shamujompa should the technical bench opt for a more youthful and versatile central defence partnership.
In midfield, the calm and collected Benson Sakala will be called upon to pull the strings behind a creative attack that has the likes of Justin Shonga, Augustine Mulenga, Moses Phiri, Kelvin Kampamba and the goal-conscious Brian Mwila.
Micho has workaholics in Salulani Phiri and Spencer Sautu that have proven their mettle over time.
Kickoff is at 12:00 hours (CAT) with the match live on Cosafa TV and SuperSport.
