Mwape Unveils Tokyo Bound Copper Queens Squad
Zambia coach Bruce Mwape has unveiled the 22-member Copper Queens squad for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, with the inclusion of four foreign based players that are expected to lead the team in Japan.
Israel based goalkeeper Hazel Nali, Zesco Girls’ N’gambo Musole and her Indeni Roses counterpart Catherine Musonda have made the cut.
Several members of the Olympic qualifying team have been named in Mwape’s squad with skipper Barbara Banda starring for the Copper Queens alongside Margaret Belemu, Martha Tembo, Lushomo Mweemba, Anita Mulenga, Ireen Lungu, Hellen Mubanga and Grace Chanda.
Also in the squad is the youthful duo of Queens Academy defender Esther Siamfuko and midfielder Susan Katongo who turns up for ZISD in the FAZ Women’s Super League.
The Copper Queens have been drawn in Group F with China, Brazil and Netherlands, and will open their campaign on July 21 against the Netherlands.
