Chipolopolo Target Falcons Scalp
The Chipolopolo boys conclude their FIFA International Window tour of duty with a crunch encounter against the Falcons of Jediane at the Al Hilal Stadium in Khartoum today (Sunday).
Zambia has played Senegal and Benin losing 3-1 and drawing 2-2 respectively with the team gunning to wind up the three-nation engagements with a victory.
The Chipolopolo and Sudan tested each other on Friday in a practice match that ended 3-2 in favour of the host nation.
Chipolopolo coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic is having a final check on possible inclusions in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup squad in September that will be away to Mauritania and host Tunisia.
Stand-in skipper Roger Kola is expected to return to the fold which will increase Micho’s options in attack where the fit-again Brian Mwila has been crawling back to his prolific best. The absence of Moses Phiri who sustained a calf injury in Friday’s practice match will be a blow to Zambia but considering that goals have come from elsewhere in the last three matches will be a consolation for Micho and his technical bench.
The composed Benson Sakala is a sure bet for stability in the middle of the pack that could also have hard men in Salulani Phiri and Pual Katema depending on what the coach will be lining up his squad.
With the backline proving the achiless heel there has been some progress made Isaac Shamujompa who looked stable in the practice match expected to partner Dominic Chanda who has seen action in all the matches during the international window.
The left back remains Prosper Chiluya’s forte while Benedict Chepeshi could complete the backline.
Micho could also deploy Spencer Sautu who has largely been used as an impact player while the Cardiff City starlet Ntazana Mayembe is doubtful as the medics have had him under their care.
Sudan who fielded their A team in the Friday’s practice match will be expected to line up Mohammed Abdeldren and Sharaf Shibaoub while Athir Altahir is also a sure starter.
Kickoff for the match is 19:00 CAT and will be live on Sudan TV.
