Chipolopolo Aim to Down Lions
Zambia kicks off its triple international friendly tour with a titanic clash with the Teranga Lions of Senegal at the Lat Dior Stadium in Thies this evening (Saturday).
Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has assembled a predominantly local side that will be hugely motivated to face a galaxy of stars in the Lions side headlined by the presence of Liverpool talisman Sadio Mane and the UEFA Champions League winning goalkeeper Edward Mendy.
However, the Chipolopolo that has five foreign based players in its fold has a competitive side that has Polokwane City shot-stopper Cyril Chibwe who is being challenged for the starting berth by Lameck Siame.
There is a fair dose of experience at the back with the imposing frame of the TP Mazembe defender Tandi Mwape who has been bonding with Dominic Chanda while Benedict Chepeshi will be expected to summon his soldierly discipline at the right back with Prosper Chiluya occupying the final spot.
Salulani Phiri may be expected to hold things down alongside Paul Katema while options abound in the creative space with Cardiff City speedster Ntanzana Mayembe, Collins Sikombe, Kings Kangwa and Spencer Sautu all in the running.
Upfront Brian Mwila, Roger Kola and the prolific Moses Phiri may have a say on how the game goes in the Senegal half.
The match will kick off at 21:00 Central African Time and will live on RTF.
Zambia and Senegal last met in Paris on August 14, 2013, in Prais in a friendly that ended 1-1.
