ROAD TO TOKYO 2020: MARGARET BELEMU: The No-Nonsense Right Back

It is very easy to dismiss Margaret Belemu on face value given her wiry frame. However, few players in the Copper Queens fold are as lion hearted as the girl from the Mtendere Township in Lusaka. ‘Maggie’ has made the right back position her personal to holder by her consistent performances. Many that have underrated her previously have found out too late of her no-nonsense approach to the game. Her occasional purple wash of hair makes her stand out. No doubt coach Bruce Mwape will be banking on Maggie to seal the right-back position.

Her big game experiences stretch back to the 2014 Under-17 Costa Rica World Cup where she starred in all the matches before Zambia was eliminated. She also played a part in all the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualifiers and will be looking to climax her participation with an Olympic appearance.
