UEFA Donates USD51, 000 Worth Bus to FAZ

UEFA has donated a Toyota Quantum bus worth $51,000 to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) as part of the partnership between the two organizations.

Speaking when she officially handed over the bus to FAZ president Andrew Kamanga, UEFA Head of International Relations Eva Pasquier said the donation was part of UEFA’s initiative to build capacity, develop youth football and strengthen infrastructure beyond the European borders.

“The minibus that we are inaugurating is part of the support that we would like to provide to FAZ, what we believe in as UEFA is in capacity building and working together with FAZ, we will mentor and assist them to achieve results because this is where we want to leave a legacy with our programmes,” Pasquier said.

Pasquier led a team of UEFA experts in conducting a leadership retreat where they met different stakeholders such as government, sponsors, media and fans before conducting a two-day retreat with the FAZ executive committee and members of staff.

“I truly believe that there is so much potential in Zambia and under the leadership of the president (Andrew Kamanga) and Exco (executive committee), I see good chances of creating a good world cup team and definitely, you are on a good day,” Pasquier said.

Kamanga said the executive committee was grateful to UEFA for the support that they have rendered to FAZ as part of on-going support to the Association.

“As an executive, we have prioritised capacity building as one area in which we hope to deliver to the expectation of the membership and we see support from UEFA as a starting point,” Kamanga said.

He said FAZ will continue to call on UEFA for support in areas of football development.

“We need to quickly get to a point where we deploy technology in the game because it’s an on-going process and we need technology like yesterday and we are looking forward to seeing how we can bring in the GPS equipment and VAR as part of the on-going developments,” he said.
