Belemu Unfazed by Group F Olympic Heavies
Zambia Senior Women National Team defender Margaret Belemu says the Copper Queens are motivated by the prospect of felling giants at the Tokyo 2020 (to be played in July 2021) Olympic Games.
The Copper Queens are in Group F alongside China, Brazil and Netherlands at the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament and will kick-off the campaign against Netherlands on 21 July.
Belemu is unfazed by the composition of the group, adding that the Copper Queens could compete favourably at the Tokyo games.
“We expect tough games at the Olympics, and we know that teams like Netherlands are highly ranked, but it’s not about ranks but performance of the team which matters,” Belemu said.
The Red Arrows right back also expressed delight that she was back in Bruce Mwape’s squad.
“I am happy to be back in the squad, I just need to work on the mistakes I made (previously) and work harder because there is competition in the team which is good for our preparations,” Belemu said.
Belemu is part of the 26-member Copper Queens squad in camp that is preparing for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
