Mid-Week Football Action Lines Up Titanic Clashes

The 2020/2021 FAZ/MTN Super League enters week 30 on Wednesday with scintillating fixtures set to light up the second week of May.

After a weekend action that produced a staggering 25 goals, all eyes will be across various stadia beginning with a double-header at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola which will be live on Supersport Channel 229 Variety 4.

Forest Rangers entertain Prison Leopards in a lunch time kick-off looking to come back to winning ways after coming from a goal down to force a 1-1 draw against relegated Kitwe United last Saturday. Leopards went down 1-2 at the hands of NAPSA Stars and need a win to stay away from the relegation waters.

At 15:00 hours, runaway leaders Zesco United host a rejuvenated Nkana with a win pushing them closer to their ninth title while Kalampa, fresh from beating arch-rivals Power Dynamos 2-0 in the Kitwe derby, are seeking another win to suppress their relegation fears.

At Sunset stadium in Lusaka, second placed Zanaco, who enjoyed a 2-1 come-from-behind win against Kabwe Warriors at the same stadium, host a Power Dynamos side that is winless in seven games. Such is the record that has seen coach Perry Mutapa sent on leave until further notice. Assistant Masautso Tembo will be in the dug-out hoping to grab three points which will keep their top four hopes alive.

Fifth placed Kabwe Warriors will host seventh placed Green Buffaloes who are on a five-match winning streak, elevating Wednesday’s match to a clash of titans.

An away win against Prison Leopards in the last fixture should motivate 15th placed Napsa Stars to go for another win at Woodlands stadium when they welcome sixth placed Red Arrows, but the Zambia Air Force sponsored side are not ready to give in after they recorded a 1-0 win over Buildcon courtesy of a James Chamanga goal in Week 29.

It will be a battle of Eagles at Khosa stadium when Young Green Eagles host sister club Green Eagles while ABSA Cup champions Lusaka Dynamos host Zambia Police side Nkwazi at Nkoloma stadium.

On Thursday, a Ndola derby is in the offering as Buildcon host Indeni at Levy Mwanawasa stadium while Kitwe United will be away in Solwezi at the Independence stadium against 16th placed and relegation threatened Lumwana Radiants.
