Fashion joins Rangers in mega deal
Scottish champions Rangers Football Club have announced the signing of Chipolopolo and KV Oostende striker Fashion Sakala on a four-year deal.
By signing for Rangers, Sakala will become the first Zambian international to play in the Scottish Premiership.
The deal is subject to international clearance and a work permit, but the 24 year old has long been on Rangers’ radar for over a year now, and is currently enjoying his best season in Belgium having scored 13 times in the Belgium top league.
“I am very much excited to start this exciting journey with Rangers. It has been one of my dreams, and I feel like this is a dream come true to join Rangers – one of the greatest clubs in the world,” Sakala said shortly after agreeing to the deal with the Light Blues.
“As a player you always strive to play for others – that is the most important strength which keeps me going. I know that Rangers have great players and I am looking forward to learning from them and deliver.”
Liverpool Legend Steven Gerrard, who is Rangers manager, expressed happiness that the Zambian was joining the club and was looking forward to welcoming him at the beginning of the pre-season.
“Fashion is a player who we have been aware of for some time. He fits our profile and has the attributes to not only thrive in Scotland but on the European stage as well,” Gerrard said.
“We are excited to see him fulfil his potential under the coaching staff at Auchenowie.”
Sakala’s move will be music to the ears of Chipolopolo coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic who is lining up his squad for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup that commence in June with an away trip to Mauritania.
