Titanic Clash as Zesco, Dynamos face-off in ABSA Cup final
The 2021 ABSA Cup final takes centre stage this afternoon (Saturday) with six-time champions Zesco United going head-to-head with an expensively assembled Lusaka Dynamos that boasts a galaxy of stars.
Defending champions Zesco United sailed through the final after thrashing Konkola Blades 4-0 at Arthur Davies Stadium while ‘Elite’ Lusaka Dynamos outclassed Zanaco with a 3-0 win at Arthur Davies Stadium.
Today’s final will bring to the fore too giants in the game in a befitting cup final with Zesco United coach Mumamba banking on the league form that has seen his side open a seven-point lead in the MTN Super League.
Zesco United has flaunted a perfect of youth and experience that has seen the emergence of promising talents like the goal hungry Enock Sakala junior and the immensely talented Chanda ‘Zescolo’ Mukuka while experienced hands like Winstone Kalengo and Kelvin Kampamba have been crucial in the Ndola side’s march to glory.
On the opposite end Numba will be facing a perennial cup winner in Wedson Nyirenda who has rejuvenated Lusaka Dynamos.
Nyirenda will be hoping Emmanuel Chabula will be at his prolific best with the cool natured Collins Sikombe expected to weave possible winning support behind the attackers.
Ultimately, the hungrier of the two sides is expected to carry the day and walk away with K600, 000.
The coach of the tournament will get K25, 000 with the Player of the Tournament receiving the same amount.
ABSA Cup has been giving out K15, 000 for every Man of the Match winner for all the games.
With fans not yet allowed back in the stadium, the match which kicks off at 15:00 hours will be televised by SuperSport.
