We have to keep focused – Coach Fathi
The head coach of Napsa Stars FC, Mohamed Fathi has said they must keep focused ahead of three other Group games remaining in the CAF Confederations Cup.
On Sunday Zambian envoys in the CAF Confederation Cup Nkana and Napsa Stars recorded a mixed bag of results on Sunday in round three of the competition.
Zambian champions Nkana needed a 77th minute strike from Diamond Chikwekwe from a Takudzwa Chimwemwe assist to record their first win in the Group Stage at the expense of Namungo FC of Tanzania.
The away win marked a significant step for Nkana but piled more misery on the hapless hosts that recorded their third straight loss in the campaign.
Nkana whose off-field struggles have been a subject of public debate can look to this match to revive their hopes of reaching the last eight of the competition.
The Kitwe giants will be hosting the Tanzanians in a return fixture on Sunday April 11 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. They are perched third behind Pyramids FC of Egypt, who were beaten 2-0 by Group D leaders Raja Casablanca in Morocco.
In Lusaka, NAPSA Stars lost 1-0 to Coton Sport via a 16th minute close range goal by Daman Abdouraman to remain bottom of Group B with a point, five behind leaders Coton Sport.
Second and third positions are currently being occupied by JS Kabylie and RS Berkane respectively who could not be separated at the Stade Municipal de Berkane on Sunday evening.
But Fathi attributed his side’s loss to a lapse in defence and a series of missed chances. “We are not regretting, it’s just the name of the game but it’s painful when we have a lot of chances but at the end of the day, we lost the game,” said Fathi.
“We have to keep focus; we still have three games to go and everything is possible in football.”
The pensioners’ next match will be away in Cameroon against Coton Sport on Sunday April 11.
