Chipolopolo Shift Focus to Warriors
The Chipolopolo boys dusted themselves off in the aftermath of Thursday’s 3-3 draw with Algeria that ended their chase for Africa Cup of Nations qualification.
Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic and his technical bench are firmly focusing on Monday’s final Group H match against Zimbabwe in Harare to set the tempo for looming Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers where Zambia will face Equatorial Guinea, Mauritania, and Tunisia in Group B.
Micho led his charges in an intense session at Edwin Imboela Stadium with the players showing no signs of slowing down despite the collapse of the Cameroon 2021 Africa Cup of Nations dream.
The team leaves for Harare on tomorrow for Monday’s final group match.
Algeria and Zimbabwe have qualified from Group H with the North Africans raking unassailable 11 points while the Warriors have eight.
Botswana and Zambia have four points and will be playing for pride in their final group matches.
On Thursday, Zambia came from two goals down to record a 3-all draw with goals from Clatous Chama and a Patson Daka brace for Zambia in a thrilling encounter at National Heroes Stadium.
