AFCON QUALIFIER: Do-or-die as Zambia host Algeria’s Desert Foxes
It will be a do-or-die for the Chipolopolo of Zambia as they host reigning African champions Algeria in a Group H match of the Total Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.
The crucial match takes place at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka this evening with Zambia needing nothing less than a win to try and revive their campaign.
Zambia are bottom of the log with 3 points, while the Desert Foxes are top with 10 points. Zimbabwe who face Botswana later today are second with 5 points and Botswana with 4 points are placed third on the log.
Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic. Zambia’s head coach has made it clear that his team have to fight and get a win inorder to stay in contention. “This is not time for talking, but working hard. We want to keep ourselves mathematically in contention so that the match in Harare against Zimbabwe decides,” added Micho.
He also made it clear that there is no better motivation for his team than playing the reigning African champions Algeria. “We need to revive our hopes in the game against Algeria. We carry dreams of millions of Zambians and have no right to let down people but make them happy,” said Zambia’s head coach.
The coach made it clear that his team must stretch itself to get a result against Algeria.
Skipper Kabaso Chongo also assured the nation that the Chipolopolo will work hard to get a good result against Algeria.
