Kamanga congratulates NAPSA, Nkana
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) executive committee has congratulated Napsa Stars and Nkana for qualifying to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
FAZ president Andrew Kamanga says the two clubs have done the country proud by emerging victorious from the pre-group stage.
“As an executive, we are very proud of the two flag carriers’ achievement in the CAF Confederation Cup so far. To get to the group stage, both teams faced tough opposition and triumphed. We can only congratulate them for their progress,” says Kamanga.
“The road is tougher ahead, but we are confident that you will represent our country well.”
He adds: “Our Zambian league is highly rated on the continent and the performance of our envoys testifies to that fact. Let us continue representing our motherland with pride across the continent.”
Napsa Stars won 3-2 on aggregate ahead of Kenya giants Gor Mahia while Nkana also qualified by the same margin ahead of Moroccan outfit TAS Casablanca.
The draws for the lucrative group stage will be conducted today in Cairo with the Zambian envoys keeping a close eye to see their group opponents.
Zambia currently enjoys four slots in CAF competitions based on the league’s ranking through consistent performances of local clubs in continental competitions.
