Nkana FC off to Casablanca
Zambia’s CAF Confederation Cup representatives Nkana Football Club have left for Morocco for the second leg of the pre-group stage encounter against Tihad Athlétique Sport de Casablanca.
Nkana who carry a 2-0 lead from the first leg left for Casablanca on Wednesday afternoon aboard Emirates Airlines.
Kelvin Kaindu, Nkana’s head coach said is confident that the record 13-time Zambian League champions will defend their 2-0 lead and qualify to the lucrative group stage.
“We know it will not be easy, but we are geared to ensure that we finish off the job in Casablanca. We have psyched the players for the task ahead and expect that we shall triumph in Morocco,” he said.
Nkana will play TAS Casablanca on Sunday in the second leg with the winner over two legs qualifying to the group stage.
Zambia’s other representatives in the same tournament Napsa Stars will host Gor Mahia of Kenya at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka. Napsa Stars carry a 1-0 advantage from the first leg in Nairobi.
The two teams are the only ones remaining from Zambia out of the four that began the race in CAF competitions.
