Zambian sides Nkana, Napsa Stars shine in CAF engagements
Zambian representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup Nkana FC and Napsa Stars shone on their assignments to brighten chances of qualifying to the lucrative group stage.
Nkana saw off Moroccan outfit TAS Casablanca courtesy of goals from Fred Tshimenga and Obed Masumbuko on Sunday, while a Daniel Adoko goal was enough to secure Napsa Stars a crucial away victory to Kenyan League reigning champions Gor Mahia FC in Nairobi.
The results put Nkana and Napsa Stars in strong footing ahead of the second legs that will be played next week.
Nkana and Napsa Stars are the remaining representatives in the CAF brackets and will be looking to do better and preserve Zambia’s four slots on the continent.
FAZ president Andrew Kamanga congratulated both teams for their first leg wins. “On behalf of my executive committee, I wish to congratulate the two sides for winning their first legs. It is a good start and puts them in a strong position to finish the job in the second round and qualify to the group stage,” says Kamanga.
He called upon the two teams to work hard ahead of the second legs to be played in a week’s time.
