U-17 Skipper Chaiwa relishes AFCON Challenge in Morocco
The team captain of Zambia’s under-17 team, Miguel Chaiwa says the team is geared for the Total Africa Cup of Nations that takes place in Morocco next month.
The tournament that will feature 12 teams that qualified from different regions will run March 13-31st.
Speaking to FAZ’s media team after the morning training session, Chaiwa who is the son of former international Changa Chaiwa said the junior Chipolopolo had set their sights on a top four finish.
“Our training is very good and our performance in camp is very good. Competition is very high, we are not supposed to sleep, the new guys are in,” he said.
“we are not supposed to relax that we are there. We need to compete, and the morale is very high. Our objective at the AFCON is to reach the top four.”
Chaiwa captained Zambia to a second place finish at the 2020 Cosafa championship that served as qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Zambia returns to the cream of the Africa Under-17 championship for the first time since 2015.
Part of the under-17 starlets were in the squad that participated at the Vlatko Markovic Under-15 Invitational tournament in Croatia last year.
