FAZ’s New Accounts and Finance Manual to tighten controls
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has launched an Accounts and Finance manual that is aimed at tightening controls around finances.
Speaking during the launch, FAZ president Andrew Kamanga said that the launch of the finance handbook re-enforced his executive committee’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
“I am delighted to be here today to be part of this momentous occasion. It is a project that has not happened overnight. A lot of work has been going on in the background. Credit should go to the members of the Audit and Compliance Committee who have pushed for this document to be actualized. But most importantly the role played by the FAZ secretariat through the Finance department to develop this document is commendable,” said Kamanga.
“It is a document that looks beyond today. Matters of financial accountability do not receive the most enthusiastic of responses but I am happy that FAZ has embraced these developments with open arms.”
He added: “The launch of the Accounts Manual for FAZ will reinforce my executive committee’s commitment to transparency and accountability. This will go a long way in ensuring that FAZ lives up to its commitment to prudency in the management of resources. My executive committee has become synonymous with accountability and transparency and we are not just paying lip service to this commitment.”
Kamanga said, “Let me also take this opportunity to inform the public that FAZ was handed a clean bill from the last FIFA audit on the operations of secretariat. Being a member of the FIFA Audit and Compliance Committee I am compelled to set a high standard for Zambia.”
The Finance and Accounts manual will be distributed to the membership to ensure that they acquaint themselves with modern trend in accounting processes.
And FAZ Audit and Compliance chairperson Emmanuel Mbambiko said the launch of the accounts was a milestone for FAZ.
