Chipolopolo shift focus to AFCON qualifiers
The national football team, Chipolopolo will soon embark on preparations ahead of two important Total Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches.
After reaching the quarter final stage of the just concluded Total Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) 2020 in Cameroon, the Chipolopolo will now shift focus on the AFCON qualifiers.
Zambia who are bottom of the log in Group H will host AFCON reigning champions Algeria later in March before traveling to face Zimbabwe in a few days.
Algeria who have already qualified top the group with 10 points, while Zimbabwe are second on 5 points, Botswana have 4 points and the Chipolopolo 3 points. Victory for coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic’s charges in the remaining two matches will see Chipolopolo qualify for Africa’s biggest football showpiece to take place in Cameroon.
At the CHAN 2020 Championship Zambia’s Chipolopolo lost 3-1 to eventual champions Morocco at the quarter final stage. In the group stage beat Tanzania 2-0 before drawing 1-1 with Guinea and closed the Group D matches with a 0-0 draw against Namibia.
